Alastair Cook has revealed England will name an unchanged team for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka which starts at Lord’s on Thursday. England have claimed emphatic victories in the opening two Tests of the three-match series at Headingley and Chester-le-Street and have opted to stick with the line-up that prevailed by nine wickets at the Emirates Riverside last time.All-rounder Chris Woakes replaced the injured Ben Stokes for the second Test and he retains his place in an unchanged bowling attack with Nottinghamshires Jake Ball once again missing out and having to settle for 12th man duties as the selectors resist the temptation to experiment. Sky Sports commentator Sir Ian Botham had suggested England could give Ball his debut in place of Woakes or Steven Finn, but Cook has stressed the need for consistency. It will be the same team as at Durham, said Cook. We won the game, had some good performances and consistency in selection is a big part of our thinking. It gives people chances to show what they can do in England shirts and you want people to feel as comfortable as they can. Its never going to be perfectly comfortable when you are on the periphery of trying to cement your place but thats international cricket. Alastair Cook thinks bowler Steven Finn will impress for England in the third Test against Sri Lanka But you dont want people always to be looking over their shoulder - when they get a chance they get a good run.Middlesex fast bowler Finn took just one wicket in the second Test but Cook is happy to stick with him on his home ground. Lacklustre at Lords? Can England improve their mixed recent record at Lords? Cook said: When Steven is on song, I believe he is up there with our three best seamers in the country. We saw last summer against Australia when he bowled, he bowled fantastically well. This winter when he played he was absolutely outstanding. Its not always perfect, you can take James Anderson as an example. He struggled a little bit, even by his own admissions, in South Africa for rhythm. Then for whatever reason he comes back and he is bowling as well as he has done probably in his career. Steven Finn bowls during an England net session at Lords It is never perfect. You dont get 11 guys at the top of their game the whole time. But what we do know is that Steven has the ability to take wickets. He has always done that and when he clicks he is a very hard bowler to face.He hasnt quite nailed it in these two Test matches but Ive seen glimpses in the nets. Just facing him now I have a great bruise on my leg and he should be very comfortable here at Lords.
